Route of Romanization

AConnoisseurs of works left by the Romans, we recommend a visit to Villa Romana in Rabaçal and to the Museum ” Espaço-Museu” where you can access to the archaeological collected over two decades.

This Villa tardo-Romana remains endowed with beautiful mosaics and unusual architecture. Strategic and scenically contextualized through olive groves, vineyards and grain fields (triad of Mediterranean culture) and herding (source of production of handmade genuine Rabaçal Cheese).

Essential place to visit is also the space-museum with a permanent exhibition of archaeological remains collected over two decades and other thematic exhibitions.

Route of the Castels

The Castles of Penela and Germanelo confer a unique landscape of the region and we recommend a visit to these sites beauty.

From the Castle Germanelo built between 1140-1142 by D. Afonso Henriques, typical of Dali period may be seen a breathtaking scenery of the valley of Rabaçal.

Castle Penela, together with the picturesque buildings that dwell in Penela give this county a magnificent postcard.

The Schist Villages, are distributed by the Central Region and form a total of 27 villages.

Here are several activities that can be performed, since the presentation of products, services, through the craft work or gastronomy.

Hidden from the extensive vegetation, a pedestrian trail to the Cascades have to be traversed. During the tour of the region, we recommend a visit to the Natural Swimming Pool of Louçainha, where the freshness, the green mountains, the calm and peace of this place, make this place one of the nicest natural sites in the county.

In addition to the pools, can be found a park of picnics and a panoramic restaurant.

On the mountain, we see St. John of the Desert, as the poet said "With a good pair of binoculars and a little imagination, may be seen five districts, besides, of course, the Coimbra: the districts of Leiria, Castelo Branco, Guarda, Viseu and Aveiro. Rise a few kilometers to see five districts, we must recognize that it is worth.

And without spending anything, except the boots.
